🍏 Fresh Fruit from Hofladen Junge-Bornholt

A weekly fruit basket has been part of our working routine for a long time. From now on, with one important difference: we no longer source our fruit through wholesale, but directly from Hofladen Junge-Bornholt, a farm shop in Hörstel-Riesenbeck.

It hardly gets more local

Only a few kilometres separate our site on Gutenbergstraße from the farm in Riesenbeck. Same town, same region. Instead of supply chains stretching across half of Europe, all it takes is a short drive through Hörstel. That saves transport distances, packaging and CO₂, and it keeps value creation exactly where our employees live.

Freshness you can taste

At Junge-Bornholt, freshness, regional sourcing and quality come first. Much of the produce grows in the farm’s own fields, complemented by selected products from neighbouring partners. For us that means the fruit in Monday’s basket has not spent days in transit. And because the farm works with the seasons, the selection changes throughout the year, from berries and asparagus in spring and summer to apples and pumpkins in autumn. Plenty of variety for the working day.

Short distances, clear principles

Short distances are nothing new to us. In lightweight metal construction, we think every day about how processes can become leaner, transport more sensible and workflows more efficient. That same thinking should apply in our own offices. Switching to the farm shop is therefore not a grand sustainability programme, but an obvious decision: better quality for our team, support for a family business nearby, and fewer unnecessary kilometres.

A small step, but one that pays off week after week. Many thanks to the team at Junge-Bornholt for the straightforward collaboration!
